In the world of online retailing, understanding consumer behaviour has never been more important. With this in mind, CBRE surveyed 10,000 consumers in 10 European countries to discover where and how they shop. Our initial findings were published in the report 'How We Shop – Inside the Minds of Europe's Consumer'. Now we have examined consumers' demographic profile (age profile, gender and income) and how this is influencing current and likely future shopper behaviour. This has provided some surprising results and insight for both retailers and shopping centre owners, and these findings will be presented alongside a panel of industry experts

Marrit Laning (34) is Head of Research and Strategy at Redevco, an international real estate company managing and developing one of the largest retail portfolios in Europe.
In her current role Marrit is responsible for translating research findings into strategic recommendations for Redevco's business. She is especially interested in the impact of (technological) innovation on shopping patterns as she is convinced that this will drive change in the retail landscape going forward.
In relation to her function at Redevco, Marrit is member of the European Research Group of ICSC. Also, she chairs the Taskforce Consumer Experience at the Dutch Shopping Center Council and is a member of the M&N Committee of RICS.
Before joining Redevco in 2011, she worked for ING Real Estate Development as Manager Research, for DTZ as Teamleader for EMEA North and Head of Research for The Netherlands. Marrit holds a MSc in Human Geography from Utrecht University, The Netherlands.

Before his current role, he served as DTC Retail Director for Nike Mexico where he managed real estate, merchandising and operational efforts within its inline and outlet businesses. Prior to Nike, he worked within Inditex's International Business Organization where he most notably managed Mexico's brand portfolio, its 3rd biggest market worldwide overseeing its market soft landing and organic growth plans.He holds a BS Industrial Engineering from the Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM) and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.

Neville has over 20 years experience in retail property research. He joined CBRE as Head of EMEA Retail Research in 2010. Previously he was working as a consultant and before that as Director of European Retail Research at Jones Lang LaSalle. He joined JLL from Cushman and Wakefield where he was Head of Development Research.

He has extensive experience in providing retail feasibility studies, investment research advice, tenant mix strategies and market entry strategies throughout Europe. He has also managed in-depth research publications in all these areas and is a frequent speaker at major conferences around Europe.

Neville leads the retail research agenda at CBRE and manages its global research outputs including 'How Global is the Business of Retail' and the web-based 'Understanding Retail Destinations'. In 2013 he has also managed groundbreaking research on Europe's Consumer (How We Shop - Inside the Minds of Europe's Consumers and How We Shop – The Changing Face of Europe's Consumer). Most recently he has carried out research into secondary shopping centres and the landlord's response to multichannel retailing.
